I love planning my yearly Bali Holidays and looking for new places and regions to explore. I love the unique rich cultural heritage this island offers with its exquisite temples and palaces, the friendly Balinese people and their love of dance and music.
In the past I have based myself at Legian and South Kuta, however this time I am going to try something a little different and stay at Ubud. Ubud is surrounded by scenic rice terraces, ancient temples, art and craft communities and small villages and is located in the centre of Bali.
Although Ubud offers alot of luxury, high end accommodation, I am going to choose one of the more budget style options that is also available in this region. This way, I can use this saved money towards picking up some amazing bargains at the very popular Ubud markets. I will also allocate time to visit the Monkey Forest.

The island’s rich cultural heritage is visible everywhere - in over 20,000 temples and palaces, in many colorful festivals and ceremonies, in drama, music, and dance.

The range of Bali accommodation is endless! From backpacker hostels for the budget conscious, private villas, resorts and 5 star hotels, there is something to suit everyone. Bali is a place of timeless beauty and rich in culture and offers a myriad of tourism spots to explore and relax. The best way to plan your next holiday would be to look at a Bali map and choose the places you would like to explore and the accommodation that best suits your needs.
Bali is one of the world’s favourite holiday destinations. This beautiful island is a fascinating place to visit with so many interesting things to see and do. You can try climbing a volcano, walk through terraced rice fields and jungles, experience white water rafting, swim or surf at some of the world’s most famous beaches, shop until your heart is content (great bargains can be picked up at the many market stalls that line the streets) and visit magnificent temples and traditional villages.
There are many popular Bali Hotels located throughout the different regions of Bali. For a
quick overview, Kuta is Bali’s largest tourist destination and is well known for its nightlife. South Kuta is a queiter area and popular with families. Legian is laid back and popular for swimming and surfing. The higher end accommodation can be found at Seminyak, just north of Kuta. Nusa Dua is home to luxury resorts and Ubud is a unique town in the centre of Bali’s culture, surrounded by temples and rice terraces. There are many more areas to stay, but these are the most popular tourist regions.

Bali is also renowned for the fabulous array of food on offer! From Babi Guling (roasted pig) to Nasi Goreng and Satay, there is something to suit all tastes, and some of the eating houses are set in picturesque locations for you to enjoy. All the favourite holiday pastimes are available too - from scuba diving in crystal clear water, to helicopter and sea plane rides, cruising, dolphin watching, fishing and more. bali rice fields
At the centre of Bali’s nightlife and shopping is Kuta. Kuta is renowned for its spectacular sunsets and lines of shops, boutiques and galleries. If you are looking for a more relaxed holiday, head to Ubud. This is the best place to base yourself to experience the culture and nature of Bali. Surrounded by rice fields, small villages and ancient temples, Ubud is also located close to the beaches and major towns. Bali travel is ideal for families, groups or romantic getaways as there are hotels and resorts to suit all accommodation preferences and budgets.
On my next holiday to Bali, I am planning to stay at Bali Dynasty Resort. It seems to be one of the most popular Bali hotelsand is close to everything. I will be travelling with my husband and son so it is perfect for us as we will stay in the Family Garden View Room which is located on the ground floor and features a terrace opening onto the gardens. Bali Dynasty Resort also has the Kupu-Kupu Kiddies Club which is also reg
arded as one of the best kids clubs in Bali. My son will enjoy the waterslide, kids pool, outdoor play area and the ‘enchanted garden’ themed air conditioned kids club.
Dynasty Bali has so many facilities for us to enjoy without even leaving the resort. There are 8 restaurants and bars for us to choose from which will be nice for variety during our 7 night stay. Bali Dynasty Resort was also quite reasonably priced, and together with cheap flights we are getting to go on a nice overseas holiday at a really great price.

Bali Dynasty Resort is a very popular hotel for both families and couples. This centrally located Bali accommodation is located in Tuban which is perfect for travellers looking to be slightly away from the hustle and bustle of Kuta, however still within walking distance to all the nightlife, shopping and excitement that it offers.
Bali Dynasty Resort offers such a wide variety of accommodation and dining options, making it suitable for all tastes and budgets. Facilities at the resort include a Kids Club, renowned as one of the best in Bali, a dedicated kids pool with waterslide, kids playground and tree house, main pool with swim up bar, a lazy pool (no kids zone), a luxurious Day Spa and Irish Pub.

Bali is a unique destination, with an amazing landscape and different culture. When shopping in Bali, remember to barter with the prices. Never pay full price for any items. I would recommend doing some day trips to explore more of Bali. Try Ubud which is located in the centre of Bali. On your drive to Ubud you will discover small villages and this unique town is surrounded by scenic rice terraces and ancient temples. Tanah Lot is also a favourite spot of mine to visit. Tanah Lot means ‘Land in the Middle of the Sea’ in Balinese language. This famous rock formation is home to a famous pilgrimage temple, and is popular at Sunset where the photos you can capture are spectacular.

For a great holiday, you can’t go past Bali Dynasty, as it has great facilities and is also located close to the shopping mall and the nightlife of Kuta.

I have travelled to Bali twice so will give you some insight into my Bali Holidays. On my first holiday to Bali I stayed at the Legian Beach Hotel and would highly recommend this resort. The rooms are lovely and have a really traditional Balinese feel about them. The resort features a lovely swimming pool and is situated right on the beach, where you can get cheap beach massages, your hair braided and buy cheap jewellery. The location of Legian is perfect as it is slightly quieter than Kuta, but still within walking distance to all the shops, restaurants and bars.
On my second holiday to Bali I stayed at the Ramada Bintang in Tuban. Tuban is located south of Kuta but still within walking distance of the shopping mall, restaurants of this region. Tuban is a much quieter area and I found it really nice to be able to escape the hustle and bustle of Kuta and retreat to my resort. The Ramada Bintang is a large resort with a nice swimming pool, swim up pool bar and restaurants. They also have theme night dinners which are a lot of fun. The rooms are comfortable and set amongst lush tropical gardens.
I would recommend on your holiday to Bali a visit to the markets at Ubud and the monkey farm, a white water rafting tour is good fun and Tanah Lot is not to be missed. This is absolutely spectacular. The resorts have tour desks where you will be able to book any day trips you choose to do. Eating out in Bali is very cheap. If you choose the right places, you can have a gourmet meal and drinks for not much more than AUD$10. One restaurant in Kuta that you must try is Poppies. The food is divine and offers a nice peaceful setting.
